Founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has revealed how he wants his funeral to be handled when he passes away, stating that only his children and church members should be responsible for the arrangements.
According to the controversial Ghanaian preacher, he does not want his wife, Florence Obinim, or any of his extended family members to play any role in organizing his funeral.
Speaking during a church service, Bishop Obinim said his wife and relatives should attend the event solely as mourners and guests, stressing that they should not interfere in decisions concerning his burial or funeral proceedings.
“When I die, I want only my children and my church to take charge of my funeral. My wife, Florence Obinim, and my family members should not be involved in the arrangements. They should attend as guests and should not come close to my body or engage in any dispute over it,” he stated.
The preacher explained that his directive is aimed at preventing disagreements and confusion among family members after his death.
Bishop Obinim noted that he has observed several instances where disputes erupted over funeral arrangements and the handling of a deceased person's remains, creating unnecessary tension among relatives.
He cited the circumstances surrounding the death of legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba, as well as reported disagreements involving the family of Apostle Kwadwo Safo, as examples of situations he hopes to avoid.
According to him, placing the responsibility solely in the hands of his children and church will ensure that his final wishes are respected and carried out without controversy.
His remarks have since generated discussion on social media, with many Ghanaians sharing differing views on whether family members should be excluded from funeral arrangements in such circumstances.
