The discussion stemmed from McBrown’s recent remarks suggesting that she should be compensated for appearing on the red carpet at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs). During the podcast, some panelists reportedly criticised her position, describing it as unrealistic and suggesting that she was placing herself above others in the industry.
Responding on her television programme, Onua Showtime, McBrown described the remarks as disrespectful and argued that her contributions to Ghana’s entertainment industry deserve recognition and respect.
Addressing the issue directly, she revealed that she had previously confronted Sammy Flex about the matter during an encounter in the United Kingdom.
“I met Sammy Flex in the UK and told him, ‘Sammy, you are not an industry person, so you don’t sit on your podcast and misinterpret what I said. McBrown—put some respect on this name, okay. I have played a lot of roles for the industry to be where it is today, that you even have the chance to sit on a podcast. When you’re talking about me, know where you’re coming from. If you’re in my lane, you can speak about me, but if you’re far away, shut up and respect me,’” she stated.
McBrown emphasized that she prefers dealing with disagreements directly rather than discussing them behind people's backs.
“I said it to his face. You know I don’t speak behind people’s backs. I say it to their face,” she added.
“I met Sammy Flex in the UK and asked what I did wrong for him and his team to talk about me on their podcast. I told him to respect my name because I’ve contributed a lot to the industry. If you’re not in my lane, don’t speak on me.
