Fresh from winning his second Artiste of the Year award at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026, Black Sherif has expressed confidence that a
third victory could be possible as he continues to remain focused on his music
career.
Speaking in an interview with TV3’s Cookie Tee
on May 11, 2026, the award-winning artiste reflected on the prospect of
becoming the first Ghanaian musician to win the prestigious Artiste of the Year
title three times.
According to Black Sherif, his dedication and
work ethic have not changed despite securing one of the highest honours in
Ghana’s music industry.
He disclosed that although he received the award
in the early hours of Sunday, May 10, he returned to work almost immediately.
“It’s possible, most definitely possible. Cause
I’m still working, I'm back to work. We won the award Sunday dawn, back to work
Monday, we are still working. It’s hundred percent possible,” he stated.
The “Iron Boy” hitmaker explained that there
is little room for complacency, stressing that he remains committed to
consistently improving his craft.
The discussion followed a comment by Cookie
Tee, who noted that although several Ghanaian music icons have won the Artiste
of the Year award twice, no artiste has yet achieved a third win.
Before Black Sherif’s latest triumph, only VVIP, Sarkodie,
and Stonebwoy had managed to secure
multiple Artiste of the Year victories at the TGMAs.
Black
Sherif’s latest comments have since fueled conversations among music fans about
the possibility of him making history with a third win in the coming years.
