The legacy of late Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba was celebrated at
the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026, where he was posthumously honoured with
the Highlife Achievement Award.
The emotional moment saw audience members light up the venue with their
phone flashlights as tributes poured in for the iconic musician whose music has
influenced generations.
The award was presented in recognition of Daddy Lumba’s immense contribution
to Ghanaian highlife music, his decades-long influence in the industry, and the

As part of the tribute, Ofori Amponsah performed a selection of Daddy

at the ceremony.
