The manager of late Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo has provided further details about her final days, saying she fought a long and difficult battle with cancer and chose to continue her treatment in Ghana so she could remain close to her children.
Speaking on Citi FM on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Abu Iddris explained that her illness initially began as breast cancer but later progressed due to its genetic nature.
“It started as breast cancer, but it’s genetic, so it circulates and spreads,” he said.
He confirmed that the actress passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the International Maritime Hospital (IMaH) in Tema, after battling cancer for about two years.
According to him, Afaglo showed immense strength throughout her treatment and continued to work despite her condition.
“It’s been a relentless war. She really fought hard,” he said.
Iddris noted that although she had been unwell for a long time, she remained determined not to let her illness overshadow her career or public appearances.
“She’s been unwell for a very long time, but because she was fighting and we went through treatment, we shot Pimp’s Paradise while she was undergoing treatment — the premiere, the promotions,” he explained.
“She lived well, doing her very best until the cancer got the better of her,” he added.
He further revealed that Afaglo had previously travelled to the United States for treatment but later decided to return to Ghana to be closer to her family.
“She chose to come here with her kids, knowing the situation. She chose to come see her kids and spend her last days with them at home,” he said. “This is who Beverly is.”
Following her passing, he said the family is currently grieving and not yet ready to announce funeral arrangements, asking for privacy and understanding.
“We are taking it slow today. It just happened, and we are really trying to breathe. We need to grieve her,” he said.
