During the livestream, she discussed beauty standards in Ghana, suggesting that in the past, Northern men were brought into Ashanti communities to intermarry, with the aim of producing what she described as taller and more attractive offspring.
She also remarked that many people abroad are often surprised to learn she is from Northern Ghana, attributing the perceived attractiveness of some Ashanti men to such historical intermarriages.
The comments sparked widespread criticism on social media, with many describing them as ethnocentric, divisive, and disrespectful to the heritage of the Ashanti Kingdom.
Following the backlash, Hajia4Real issued a public apology, describing her remarks as a “jovial comment” that was not intended to cause offence and asking for forgiveness.
“Regarding the video, I am sorry. Please forgive me. I truly love the Ashantis. Trust me, if you follow me, you will know that I visit Kumasi often. Sometimes, I go there just to eat fufu before returning to Accra. I love Kumasi. I did not mean to say it that way, so I am sorry if anyone felt offended by my previous comments,” she said.
While some social media users have accepted her apology, others remain unconvinced, pointing to her past controversies and insisting that the remarks were inappropriate regardless of intent.
