Veteran Ghanaian media personality and fashion icon, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, popularly known as KKD, has opened up about the unconventional advice from his late uncle that influenced his decision to marry at a relatively young age.
Speaking on Power FM's Entertainment Show, KKD recounted how his uncle encouraged him to settle down early, warning that delaying marriage could have unintended consequences despite his growing popularity among women.
According to the renowned broadcaster, his uncle observed that even before he achieved financial success, he was already attracting significant attention from women.
“I hope everyone gets a good marriage. I got married early because my uncle gave me some advice. He told me that even though I had no money, ladies were still all over me,” KKD recalled.
He explained that his uncle believed the attention would only intensify as his career progressed and his financial situation improved.
KKD said his uncle cautioned that with success would come even more admirers, making it important to identify a suitable life partner and commit early.
Reflecting on the conversation, he shared one of the more memorable remarks from his uncle, who bluntly suggested that postponing marriage for too long could mean missing out on the person destined to become one’s spouse.
The media personality made the remarks while discussing relationships, marriage and the importance of making thoughtful decisions about life partners.
Over the years, KKD has frequently shared insights on family life, personal development and relationships, often drawing on his own experiences to inspire younger generations.
While acknowledging the blunt nature of his uncle’s advice, KKD said the underlying message was about recognising a good partner when one finds them and not allowing distractions or indecision to stand in the way of building a meaningful future together.
He concluded by expressing his hope that everyone finds a happy and fulfilling marriage, stressing the importance of choosing the right partner and laying a strong foundation for family life.
