Kumawood actor and producer LilWin has responded sharply to critics who have questioned his refusal to publicly congratulate fellow comedian Dr Likee following his sold-out show at the O2 Indigo in London.

LilWin argued that those demanding he celebrate his colleague’s achievement have remained silent during his own career milestones, insisting that the entertainment industry applies double standards.

The debate began after LilWin previously suggested that Dr Likee’s headline comedy event held on May 22, 2026, was not fully self-funded, claiming he had knowledge of the individual who financed the production.

Those claims were later dismissed by Dr Likee’s associate Papa Kumasi, who stated that Dr Likee had sold his personal vehicle to fund the event. Media personality DJ Slim also criticised LilWin, questioning his credibility and claiming he was unable to fill major venues locally.

In a video that has since gone viral, LilWin defended his position and lashed out at critics.

“Those people who know the facts and are just talking anyhow, God will deal with you guys,” he said.

He further argued that he owes no one congratulations, noting that his own projects had not received similar recognition from colleagues.

“Those of you angry that I didn’t say congratulations, listen. I had a very big show that ran for four days. The person you want me to congratulate did not say anything about me,” he said.

LilWin referenced his film premieres, including A Country Called Ghana, which he said attracted high-profile personalities such as musicians, MPs and government officials, yet received little acknowledgment from industry colleagues. He also mentioned his production Traore in making his point.

“When I premiered A Country Called Ghana in Accra, I sold out the National Theatre… no single colleague congratulated me,” he added.

He further stated that he was never invited to Dr Likee’s London event, questioning why he should be expected to offer public praise.
