A video involving Ghanaian Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has gone viral online following the arrest of several Chinese nationals by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) over the alleged production of substandard mattresses and related products.
LilWin shared a video on social media expressing concerns about persistent body pains he experiences after sleeping on his mattress.
The actor explained that he had become suspicious because the mattress felt unusually hard compared to regular foam mattresses he had previously used.
Out of curiosity, LilWin decided to cut open the mattress to inspect its contents and determine whether it could be linked to the products allegedly manufactured by the company under investigation.
To his surprise, the actor claimed the inside material resembled plastic or rubber instead of conventional foam.
“I saw a video online about authorities shutting down a company involved in mattress production, and the materials shown looked more like rubber used for packaging electronics such as televisions,” he stated.
“After watching the video, I remembered that I wake up every morning with severe body pains as though I had been beaten, so I decided to check my own mattress,” he added.
LilWin further appealed to government agencies and regulators to intensify checks on products imported or manufactured for public use to ensure consumer safety.
“Why should rubber be used in place of foam? I plead with the government to be vigilant about products being sold to Ghanaians because some of them can be harmful,” he said.
