The 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026 delivered glamour, excitement and memorable moments at the Grand Arena on May 9, 2026, but one particular red-carpet interaction has since generated intense discussion on social media.

During the red-carpet session hosted by media personality Regina Van Helvert, actress Fella Makafui was asked a question referencing her ex-husband, a moment many viewers considered controversial.

While speaking with Fella Makafui, Regina asked: “If your ex-husband saw you tonight, what do you think he would say? We didn’t mention names oo, we just said if your ex sees you tonight, what do you think he will be thinking?”

The question appeared to momentarily catch the actress off guard, although she remained calm and responded with laughter instead of giving a direct answer.

“See, you are just looking for a problem for me. I wish everyone the best,” Fella replied playfully.

Although the exchange ended amicably, clips of the interview quickly circulated online, triggering mixed reactions from social media users.

Some users criticised the question, arguing that it was inappropriate for a public red-carpet event and unnecessarily intrusive.

One social media user commented: “Reasons I cannot be a celebrity, because if she asked me this question eh, what I’ll tell her, it will become a war film immediately. You’ll collect hot hot.”

Another user acknowledged Regina Van Helvert’s professionalism but questioned the relevance of the question.

“Regina is an excellent journalist but I wasn’t expecting this question from her, a very unimportant question,” the user wrote.

Others also weighed in on the issue, with one commenter asking: “Ah what kind of disrespectful question is that? Why say some people no get boundaries like that?”

The incident has since become one of the trending talking points from this year’s awards ceremony, with fans divided over whether the question crossed the line or was simply part of entertainment journalism.
