Leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries International, Prophet Kumchacha, has praised Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku, GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi and NEIP CEO Eric Adjei for assisting people who approach them for support, while criticising other National Democratic Congress (NDC) appointees for allegedly neglecting those who supported the party in opposition.
Speaking in an interview on Aluta FM, the preacher said the three officials had demonstrated a willingness to help people in need, sometimes using their personal resources to provide assistance.
He contrasted their conduct with that of some ministers, Members of Parliament and heads of state institutions who, he alleged, no longer answer or return calls from people seeking their attention.
Kumchacha, who said he supported the NDC while it was in opposition, expressed disappointment with the attitude of some government appointees following the party’s return to power.
He warned that the government had limited time left in office and urged its officials to pay greater attention to the concerns of ordinary people, particularly those struggling financially.
“Some ministers, MPs, top NDC leaders and state CEOs, when we call you, you should answer our calls. I’m tired. It won’t be long before your remaining two years in office are up. Some people are eating while others are going hungry,” he said.
The preacher alleged that some officials had even blocked contacts, making it difficult for people to reach them by telephone.
He urged appointees selected by President John Dramani Mahama to remain accessible and remember the people who supported the party before it assumed power.
According to Kumchacha, politicians are often more approachable while in opposition but tend to become difficult to reach after securing appointments or assuming positions of authority.
“Politicians do not learn. When they are in opposition, they are very interactive and readily answer your calls, but when they come into power and assume positions, they stop answering their calls,” he said.
“These top NDC leaders, especially those President Mahama has appointed to various positions, should learn from this. Not everyone who calls you is asking for money, but the complaints I am receiving about the NDC are very troubling,” he added.
Kumchacha further disclosed that he had not personally benefited from the government since the NDC returned to power, despite his support for the party.
He, however, maintained that he continued to hold President Mahama and his wife, Lordina Mahama, in high regard because of his positive personal relationship with them.
“John Mahama, as a person, is very good, but I have not benefited in any way from this government since it came into office,” he stated.
