A 36-year-old man identified as Clement has appealed for help to recover GH¢150,000 he claims to have spent on his former girlfriend during the course of her education with the hope of marrying her.
Speaking on Oyerepa Afutuo with Auntie Naa on Thursday, May 28, 2026, Clement, who is from Atebubu, narrated that he met a young woman named Rakia when she was a first-year student at Atebubu Training College while he was in his final year at the university.
According to Clement, after they began dating, Rakia introduced him to her family. He said Rakia’s mother explained that she was financially struggling and unable to support her daughter’s education, adding that Rakia’s biological father, who lives in Accra, was also not taking responsibility for her upkeep.
Clement claimed that because of this situation, he decided to fully support Rakia throughout her schooling. He said he paid her fees, provided money for feeding and personal expenses, bought items for her, and even assisted her mother financially.
After completing school, Clement said they started preparations toward marriage. He explained that he requested the marriage list from Rakia and purchased the required items. However, he alleged that her attitude toward him suddenly changed.
According to him, Rakia began having conversations with another man and later told him the individual was helping with their marriage plans.
“One day I called her and realized she was on another call. When I asked who she was speaking to, she said it was a man assisting with our marriage preparations. I questioned why another person was involved without my knowledge, but she ended the call and stopped communicating with me,” he said.
Clement further alleged that he later came across a voice note online in which Rakia insulted him. He added that when he reported the matter to her mother and stepfather, he was also insulted by her mother.
“She questioned why I was following her daughter around and even told me I was not good enough for her,” he claimed.
He said he eventually discovered that Rakia was involved with another man.
Clement explained that he kept records of all the expenses he made during the relationship, including school fees, upkeep, vacation expenses, utensils, and money given to Rakia’s family.
Speaking on the programme, Rakia denied forcing Clement to spend money on her. She stated that she had family members and loved ones who also supported her financially and insisted that the amount he is demanding is exaggerated.
“I never asked him to spend that money on me. He did it on his own. I had brothers and other people supporting me, so the amount he is mentioning is not accurate. Even my school fees were not that expensive,” she said.
Clement is now seeking the intervention of Auntie Naa and her team to help him recover the GH¢150,000 he claims to have spent on Rakia during their relationship.
