Ghanaian comic actor Funny Face has once again reflected on a difficult period of his life, turning his experiences in psychiatric care into humorous storytelling during a recent interview on Joy Prime.

He recounted spending time at different mental health facilities, including the psychiatric unit at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and Pantang Hospital, where he received treatment during a period of mental health struggles.

Funny Face said his celebrity status made him a familiar figure among patients, many of whom would interact with him during moments of boredom on the wards.

He described some of the interactions as unusual but said he often engaged other patients in conversation in a way that made them feel understood.

“Imagine someone who is crazier than you coming to advise you. I had a friend in there, and after hearing my story, he told me my situation is even worse. Imagine someone who has spent seven years in a psychiatric ward advising me and feeling pity for my condition,” he recounted.

According to him, he sometimes played along with conversations to build rapport with other patients, even when their discussions appeared unconventional.

“In my quest to make them feel I understand them, I also indulged them. And the nurses would be watching us, marking me that my situation was not getting better. We ate imaginary food on the floor and had weird conversations that made no sense,” he added.

The actor’s remarks formed part of his broader reflections on his mental health journey, which he has occasionally shared publicly as part of efforts to raise awareness and speak openly about recovery and wellbeing.
