Speaking in an interview with Kula, which was shared on social media on May 21, 2026, Funny Face said his biggest regret in love was not marrying Esi, a colleague from the popular TV series Chorkor Trotro.
According to him, the actress showed him genuine care and support long before he achieved fame, but he failed to recognise her value at the time.
He explained that rising fame influenced his judgement, causing him to overlook the sincerity of her affection.
“I should have married Esi, the lady I used to act with in Chorkor Trotro. We were not dating, but looking back now, I realise I should have settled down with her. She cared for me genuinely and was there when I was still coming up, even after Adebayor gave me the Range Rover in 2012,” he said.
Funny Face added that Esi was never impressed by fame or material things, noting that she often left film sets on her own without seeking attention.
“That girl didn’t even care about the Range Rover. After shoots, she would just go her way. Other ladies might have waited because of the fame and car, but she never did that. Back then, fame clouded my thinking,” he said.
Reflecting further, he advised young men to appreciate and remain loyal to partners who support them before success arrives.
“When you finally make it in life, I’m not saying there is no true love, but the woman who stood by you before fame is usually the genuine one. Those women are rare, maybe one in ten,” he added.
He noted that he now recognises he had overlooked at least two such meaningful relationships in his past.
