It’s about time women have more than one husband – Actress

·

Ghanaian-British singer Stephanie Benson has questioned the double standards surrounding relationships, arguing that women should have the same freedom as men to pursue multiple partners if society accepts such arrangements for men.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on October 7, 2026, Benson said the idea that men can have more than one woman while women are expected to remain with a single partner reflects a longstanding imbalance in how relationships are viewed.

She argued that women are equally capable of managing multiple relationships and should not be regarded as incapable of handling the emotional, intellectual and family responsibilities that come with them.

“If I could bring that back so women to have more than one husband, that will be the ideal situation. I think it’s about time we had more than one husband,” she said.

According to Benson, women’s decision to remain faithful to one man should not be interpreted as a lack of capacity to have more than one partner.

“I think it’s important because men underestimate women. They think they are the only ones who need more than one woman, but a true woman, our juices, it flows by far more than that. It is only because we are dedicated and loyal. That’s why we stay with one man,” she said.

She further argued that women could provide emotional and intellectual support to multiple partners while also managing family responsibilities.

“But if that rule was there, listen, we can satisfy a multitude of men. Intellectual satisfaction for the man is there; we can support, and we can look after how many children? So why can’t we have two, three men? I mean, I can,” she noted.

Benson’s comments have reignited the debate over gender expectations in relationships and whether standards traditionally applied to women should also apply equally to men.
